单词bread，意思是面包，大多数人小学阶段就会了，但这个单词还真有不平凡之处呢！哪里不平凡了？bread这个单词在古英语阶段的拼写还是bread，也就是说，经历了上千年的时光，这个单词的拼写没有任何变化。

这有啥不平凡的！你要是这么想，你还真错了！这么着吧，你随机找100个或50个单词，看它在古英语中的拼写是什么样，再比较和现代英语中的样子是不是一样。我可以告诉你，大概率是两者相同的情况100个单词中一个也没有！

你可以说1066年是Middle English的开始，也可以说1100年，也可以说是1150年。之所以有这三个，是因为1066年发生了诺曼征服，而诺曼征服之后法语对英语的影响，呵呵，可以说1150年之后才显现出来。

别说复杂的单词了，咱就说简单常见的单词，我来举例子：

两个字母的单词be，古英语中写作beon或beom或bion；
